AI edtech startup Riiid is accelerating its global business expansion as the B2B (business-to-business) revenue of its Japanese subsidiary continues to rise.
Since establishing its local subsidiary in Japan in 2021, Riiid has maintained solid performance. From January to September this year, the Japanese subsidiary's B2B revenue increased by 288%, signaling strong momentum for the expansion of its global B2B business, while total revenue rose 51% on a year-to-date (YTD) basis.
A key driver of B2B revenue growth was a new contract signed in June this year with Fujitsu, one of Japan's leading IT companies. Through an e-learning outsourcing agreement, the company has secured orders for 3,084 users to date, with additional orders expected later this year.
In addition to Fujitsu, Riiid has signed B2B contracts with numerous local Japanese companies, including global fashion brand UNIQLO, as well as Sojitz, Daifuku, Maruzen Pharmaceuticals, and Teijin.
Moon Yong-joo, Head of Riiid Japan, said, “Based on Riiid's technological capabilities and expertise, we are steadily expanding the share of our B2B business in Japan by building strong partnerships with local companies,” adding, “We expect Japan to serve as a strategic base that will also help accelerate the expansion of our global partnerships going forward.”
Meanwhile, Riiid Japan's B2C revenue from January to September reached approximately KRW 2.23 billion, up about 40% year over year. Performance was supported by efforts to improve service usability through the partnership signed last year with Japanese language education brand ALC, including securing high-quality TOEIC questions and newly launching 831 pieces of ALC content.
