Socra AI's 'Real Speaking' Achieves 6x Revenue Growth in Just 6 Months After Launch

Real Speaking, the English speaking service from AI edtech startup Socra AI (formerly Riiid), recorded sixfold revenue growth just six months after launch. After launching last July, it reached approximately KRW 300 million in revenue this January and has maintained stable revenue of about KRW 100 million in April as well.
Real Speaking is a speaking learning service where users practice spoken English by conversing 24/7 with AI mates on a variety of topics. Moving away from traditional grammar- and memorization-focused learning methods, it offers a real speech-centered curriculum using proven intellectual property (IP) content such as films, dramas, and animations. It was designed with adult beginner learners who are comfortable with reading and listening in English but struggle with speaking as its primary target, and lowering the psychological barrier to entry is considered a key factor in attracting learners.
Last November, the company selected broadcaster Kang Jiyoung, who completed higher education in the United States, as its model to boost brand awareness.
Park Soo-young, CEO of Socra AI, said, “Real Speaking’s rapid growth is the result of building a structured learning system that makes ‘real speaking’ possible,” adding, “We will provide the optimal learning service so that anyone can improve their English skills easily and enjoyably.”
